Description
Yoinashi is a modern cultivar that means “excellent pear”. This mid-late September season, fresh eating Asian Pear ripens between Hosui and Shinko and is also good for storage & canning. The fruit is large with a russeted orange-brown skin. The flesh is firm, crisp, and juicy & with a rich and aromatic flavor. Tree is vigorous, is partially self-fertile and is resistant to fireblight & pseudomonas. It has an upright habit and should be thinned to maintain annual bearing and prevent limb breakage. Excellent keeper (4 months). It originated in Japan. USDA Hardiness Zones: 5-10. USPTO trademark is dead.

Grafted onto appropriate vigorous rootstocks, an Asian pear can be prolific producers in our soil and climate. Cultivars are classified in two groups. Most of the cultivars belong to the Akanashi (‘Russet pears’) group, and have yellowish-brown rinds. The Aonashi (‘Green pears’) have yellow-green rinds.
