This Black Currant tree is highly productive, is grows quickly to 6′ tall and is resistant to mildew & white pine blister rust.
Black Currant is self-fertile, is moderately vigorous, blooms early-mid spring, is ornamental and fast growing. USDA Hardiness Zones: 3-9.
A taller shrub that produces abundant uniquely flavored berries in early summer here in the Pacific Northwest. The leaves exude a wonderful minty sage fragrance all year round. The berries have a hardy taste and texture, almost meaty at times. When barely ripe, they can be piney, but will fill out their complex flavor profile once they ripen completely. They are rich in vitamin C and polyphenols.
