Description

Clove currant with clove like scent. The fruit of this Black Currant is black, grape sized, sweet/tart & tasty with a hint of clove flavor when dead ripe. Tree is self-fertile and has yellow ornamental flowers. USDA Hardiness Zones: 4.

A taller shrub that produces abundant uniquely flavored berries in early summer here in the Pacific Northwest. The leaves exude a wonderful minty sage fragrance all year round. The berries have a hardy taste and texture, almost meaty at times. When barely ripe, they can be piney, but will fill out their complex flavor profile once they ripen completely. They are rich in vitamin C and polyphenols.
