Replacement tree for Bing in much of the commercial industry. This mid season, baking Sweet Cherry ripens late July and is also good for preserves, canned, frozen & fresh eating. The fruit is large, sweet, juicy, firm, plump & excellent quality with deep-red to purple skin and flesh. Tree is heavy yeilding, requires 850 chill hours and is a cross between Van and Stella. It is resistant to cracking & late frosts and is self-fertile and excellent pollinizer. It is beautiful ornamental with frilly white flowers. It originated in Summerland, Canada, 1983.
Sweet Cherry species description: Sweet Cherry is moderately vigorous, blooms late winter to early spring with white, pink and red flowers. Cherries have a delicious and unique sweet and sour flavor. They often ripen earlier in the season than large fruit.
