Well regarded by apple connoisseurs. Similar to McIntosh. This Aug-Sept season, fresh eating Apple is also called Tokyo Rose. The fruit is sweet & rich with spicy flavor. Tree has high yeild, is self-fertile, is moderately vigorous and is resistant to scab & powdery mildew. It is a cross between Jonathan and Worcester Pearmain. It originated in Iwate, Japan & introduced to US in 1937. USDA Hardiness Zones: 4.
